For cupcake designs that call for different colors of frosting, take a batch of vanilla frosting and separate it into different bowls.
Slowly stir in gel paste or liquid food coloring until it becomes your desired color.
Now, spread the frosting evenly on the cupcakes with a small metal spatula or the back of a teaspoon.
