Welcome to Ghetto Gardening

Welcome to Ghetto Gardening. Urban gardening in the cooler days of September is wonderful. The dog days of summer have past, now it's time to harvest the garden goodies that were planted. The Ghetto Gardner enjoyed a great year for veggies like tomatoes, okra, squash, cabbage. The cherry harvest was extremely fruitful (pun intended).

Almost everything that was planted, grew and multiplied. Unfortunately, we had a couple of not so good harvests. This was not a good year for our green peppers or cucumbers. The peppers rarely fruited this season. What we did manage to grow was small and not as flavorful as in years past. The cucumbers started off well in the spring, but the actual fruits were small and tasteless.
